Yangzhi Temple

Yangzhi Temple is located at the east foot of Qinglianggang Hillock.
After Liu Bingwen, an officer in Ningbo, made donation, the abbot of Zhenghai Monastery(today's Fayu Monastery) set it up in 1608. Monks Tonglu and Yuansheng rebuilt it in the period of 1662-1722. Later it was repaired by Monk Genxin in 1922. ln 1995 its reconstruction was started. A Maitreya Nunnery to the east of it was demolished, and a courtyard house was built. Now it is used as Yi- yang Hall (Rest Home). There is Stele Pavilion of “Travel Notes of Mount Putuo” written by Sun Yat-sen to the west of it. Yangzhi Guanyin Stele erected behind Yuantongdian Hall by Liu Bingwen in 1608 is one of three treasuries in Mount Putuo. In 1979 it was listed in the list of Key Relics Conservation Unit in Zhoushan City. It has 188 rooms of buildings and 6,098 m2 of building area.
