Dacheng Buddha Hall
Dacheng(Mahayana) Buddha Hall is at the east foot of Elephant King Peak.
The former name of Dacheng Buddha Hall was Doushuai-peng. In 1915 the supervisor of Huiji Monastery, Monk Qingxiang transformed it into a nunnery affiliated to Puji Monastery. In 1945 Monk Shanhui brought back 1,000 (30-odd cm high) jade statues of Buddha from Burma, In order to enshrine 1,000 jade statues of Buddha, Thousand Buddha Building was built. Big Lying Buddha was molded downstairs. It is a worshiping place for believers from Fujian.
In 1963 some oversea Chinese came from Hong Kong and Philippine and they made donation to rebuild and decorate the building, In 1981 overhaul of building was started. In 2003 expanding project was finished. 1,000 new jade statues of Buddha are enshrined on the second floor of Thousand Buddha Building, A 9 m long Lying Buddha is enshrined on the first floor of Thousand Buddha Building. There are a new clay statue of Guanyin at ease and painted sculptures of 25 Bodhisattva in Yuantongdian Hal1. It has 81 rooms of buildings and 3,053 m2 of building area now.
