Putuoshan Buddhist Museum

It is on the east side of Hai-yin Pond of Puji Monastery and on the site of the former Tianhua Nunnery. In 2007 planed and prepared to build it. It was opened to the public during the Ninth Session of Nanhai Guanyin Culture Festiva1 in November of 2011. It is a modern museum with advanced multi function display facilities. Its total building area is 3,643 m2 and the main project occupies a section of land of 3,400 m2. It is of two f1oors and with the total height of 19.68 m. It has nine exhibition halls and warehouses. Its building style imitates that of Song Dynasty. It is near to a Key Relics Conservation Unit in Zhoushan City-Baizi Hall and a Key Relics Conservation Unit in China-Duobaota Temple. The museum has a collection of 1,600-odd relics of Buddhism. Mains of the colection are relics of Buddhism, emperor's decrees, cassocks given by the Emperor, calligraphy works and paintings, bronze statues, porcelain and jade articles. There are five cultural relics of the first grade in China, 23 cultura1 relics of the second grade in China and 349 cultural relics of the third grade in China among the collection.
