Chanti temple
Chanti temple is located to the north of Thousand-Step Beach, formerly known as Chanti nunnery. It was founded by monk Guoxian in 1662-1722. And it was later rebuilt by the monk Dingjue. In 1927, Shanghai calligrapher and painter Wang Yiting inscribed the plaque for "Chanti Temple". In the 20 years of the Republic of China, Superintendent Decheng built the Pure Land Hall opposite the temple. Opposite the temple, near Thousand-Step Beach, there is a screen wall with the seven characters “Namo Bodhisattva Guanyin ” written by Wang Yiting. At the beginning of the founding of New China, venerable Shanming and Zhengzhong lived here. The Buddhist Association of Mount Putuo took it back in 1998, and it is now under restoration, and it is temporarily not open to the public.
